GBBD January 2011

Wow. Christmas holidays seem to go so fast. It's been a busy few weeks.

My sister Tabatha and my nephew Lachlan have been in town from Hanoi, so we've been doing a lot of catching up as they will be off again on Monday and we won't see them for the next year or so.

My maternal grandmother has been in hospital with heart problems, but she's a tough old bird and will fight till the last breath. Alison's aunt went in for surgery and ended up having multiple heart attacks on the operating table, then kidney failure necessitating intensive care and life support, which was unexpected as she was in good health. She is breathing unaided now, but we're not out of the woods yet.

So all in all it's been a busy few weeks. I think going back to work will be quite pleasant.

Then today my neighbour asked me what the date was. I looked at my watch and realised that I needed to post something for GBBD. But my garden had nothing new from the last 2 months. There are only so many angles one can take photos from of the same flowers, and I despaired.

But mother nature, who has been teasing me mercilessly for weeks, threw me a lifeline. My crepe myrtle which was a stick of ignominious proportions a few months back...

...had its first tiny flower. The promise of more to come is evident.

I'm a little proud right now.
